The above list contains the names and thesis titles of recipients of doctoral degrees in the mathematical sciences (July 1, 1999, to June 30, 2000) reported in the 2000 Annual Survey of the Mathematical Sciences by 237 departments in 158 universities in the United States. Each entry contains the name of the recipient and the thesis title. The number in parentheses following the name of the university is the number of degrees listed for that university. A supplementary list, containing names received since compilation of this list, will appear in a summer 2001 issue of the Notices. Mathematics
